British biographer, film historian and critic, composed a short list of
film books that might be interesting and/or useful for any film critic,
young or old. Jonathan Rosenbaum: Basic Books Adrian Martin writes about the books which
influenced and accompanied him: »Film as Film« by V.F. (Victor)
Perkins, and »Theory of Film Practice« by Noël Burch. Gabe Klinger tells about his encounter
with the book »Young Filmmakers«, written by Rodger Larson
with Ellen Meade, published in 1969. Chris Fujiwara, the Boston based critic,
was fascinated by Jacques Rivette's writing on cinema. Title of his reading
experience: "The Comings and Goings of People in Space". Philip Cheah (Singapore) describes the
influence the writing of François Truffaut and Nagisa Oshima had
