All eyes were on Canada’s second-largest city this September as the New Montreal Film Festival, initiated its inaugural edition under festival-veteran Moritz de Hadeln. Some were expectant, some wary. In the line of fire was FIPRESCI’s own Angela Baldassarre and Pamela Biénzobas, boldly going forth into strange new waters and scrutinizing the event at hand, each from their own unique angle.
