“Last Life in Universe”. The film by Thai director Pen-ek Ratanaruang won the FIPRESCI Prize. “The film is funny, stylish and utterly original”, writes Derek Malcolm in his wrap-up of the festival which tried, under a new directorial staff, to find this year a new conception. Our jury had in particular seen films from the ASEAN states to which Bangkok offered a showcase — the countries of Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Viet Nam.
