It borders on a miracle that fest head Ilda Santiago managed, in today’s Brazil, to offer sort of an emergency edition of the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival – Fest Rio. Two of our regular initiatives had to be canceled for this year: our “Lifetime Achievment Award Latin America”; and our critics’ jury, which traditionally would have selected a Latin American film, for the “FIPRESCI Prize”. One initiative could however be continued: The “Talent Press” workshop for young critics of Portuguese language, thanks to Berlinale Talents and the Goethe-Institut.
