Venice film festival Artistic Director Alberto Barbera received FIPRESCI’s 100 Special Award for his support and contribution to the art of film criticism. The award was followed by the reception on the occasion of the federation’s 100th anniversary.

At the Opening Ceremony of the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Jerzy Skolimowski will receive the special FIPRESCI 100 Lifetime Achievement Award, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of this oldest international film critics’ association in the world. Jerzy Skolimowski comments: “It is a great honour to receive the FIPRESCI award for the so-called lifetime achievement, even though I have yet to make my most important film. In Memoriam David Stratton. David Stratton, who was President of the FIPRESCI Jury at Cannes twice and Venice once, died on Thursday, 14 August, at a hospital near his home in the Blue Mountains outside Sydney, Australia.
