FIPRESCI Jury to Haugesund
The Norwegian International Film Festival Haugesund informs:
The Norwegian International Film Festival will have its own FIPRESCI jury starting with this year’s festival. FIPRESCI is The International Federation of Film Critics and has juries at film festivals all over the world. In Haugesund the FIPRESCI jury will follow the Nordic programme Nordic Focus and award its prize to the festival’s best Nordic film.
This year’s jury will consist of three persons selected by FIPRESCI, of which one member is from Norway. The new award will not replace the long-established Norwegian Film Critics Award, which is appointed by the Norwegian Film Critics Association and given to the best film in the main programme.
– We are very pleased to have secured a FIPRESCI jury for this year’s festival and are certain that this will help make Nordic films become even better known to the outside world, Festival and Programme Director Tonje Hardersen says.
FIPRESCI stands for Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique (the International Federation of Film Critics) and was established in 1926 by Belgian and French critics. Today FIPRESCI is a worldwide organisation that annually appoints critics juries at numerous film festivals. The Norwegian Film Critics Association represents FIPRESCI in Norway.
