FIPRESCI Signs a MOU with the Saudi Film Commission

As part of expanding its network of relations and cooperation with the film community, FIPRESCI signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Film Commission. The MOU, signed by FIPRESCI president Ahmed Shawky and the CEO of the Film Commission Abdullah Naser Al-Qahtani covers areas like training, festivals and events, archiving, restoration, academic research, among other fields of mutual interest.
The signing happened within the evening of announcing the establishment of the Saudi film archive, and a new initiative called “Cinamaa”, aiming to promote publishing of film studies. Many FIPRESCI members have also taken part in the first two editions of the Film Criticism Conference, which was held in the Saudi capital Riyadh in 2023 and 2024.
