Letter to Our Turkish Friends
Zeynep Tül Akbal Süalp
President, SIYAD
SIYAD – Sinema Yazarlari Dernegi / Association of Movie Critics
Istanbul
Mrs. President,
Dear Tül,
It is with consternation that my colleagues and I have heard about the terrible events which have shaken your country in recent days. We hope that you and your family, that all our colleagues in SIYAD and their families have not been directly affected, as well as our colleagues at the film festivals in the country, in particular in Istanbul and Ankara.
We know that the consequences of these tragic events are not foreseeable. We hope, however, that the freedom of press and science will not be restricted, and we hope that Turkish cinema can continue to enhance the international profile it has built up so successfully in recent years.
Our thoughts are with you.
Best regards
