Venice 2017: Frederick Wiseman’s Visit to the NY Public Library
At the Biennale Cinema – Venice International Film Festival (Italy, August 30 – Sep 9, 2017), the Critics Jury awarded two prizes: to a film in the international competitin; and to a film in the parallel sections (“Horizons”, “Critics Week”).
Prize for a film in the official competition: “EX LIBRIS: The New York Public Library” by Frederick Wiseman (USA; 2017, 197 min).
Prize for a film in parallel sections: “Oblivion Verses” (Los versos del olvido) by Alireza Khatami (France, Germany, Netherlands, Chile, 2017, 92 inm, Orizzonti/Horizons).
Jury members were: Neil Young, UK, president, Joshua Rothkopf, USA, Viktor Palák, Czech Republic, Paulo Portugal, Portugal, Massimo Lechi, Italy, Gianlorenzo Franzi, Italy.
