Alexander Melyan

Alexander Melyan is a film critic and video essayist based in Yerevan, Armenia. He is a regular contributor to Cine[scope] multimedia platform, Epress.am and EVN Report. His main area of interest lies in exploring the historical and cultural context of various cinematic movements. His twelve-part series of video essays (featuring Soviet Avant-Garde, New Taiwanese Cinema, Iranian Second New Wave, and so on) is currently being broadcast on one of the Armenian public television channels, Boon TV. Since 2020, Alexander has been working as a programmer at the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival.
