Dmytro Sydorenko

Film Critic, Ukraine

Dmytro Sydorenko has been working in journalism since 2015, covering politics, economics, and culture. He started his career as a correspondent in the economics department of UNIAN, one of Ukraine’s leading news agencies, and has contributed as a freelance author to national outlets such as Fakty, Liga.net, and Forbes.ua, as well as to international platforms including New Eastern Europe.

Since then, he has specialized in film criticism, writing reviews, festival notes, interviews, and analytical pieces. His work appears regularly in various national media, and in recent years he has also been a contributor to KINO-KOLO magazine – the Ukrainian analogue of Cahiers du Cinéma. Following the new trends of the social media era, he actively publishes his own reflections on cinema on Facebook, Letterboxd, and Serializd.

Dmytro attends all major Ukrainian film festivals – Odesa IFF, Docudays UA, Molodist Kyiv IFF, Kyiv International Short Film Festival, Kharkiv MeetDocs, Kyiv Critics’ Week – where he covers premieres and regularly serves on juries as a representative of the Union of the Ukrainian Film Critics. An independent film critic, he is interested in both fiction and documentary films, with a particular focus on directors’ styles and the evolving landscape of Ukrainian and international cinema.
