Ezio Leoni

Ezio Leoni, born in 1951, began working with cinema in the 70s as a “cultural operator”, transitioning to movie critic in 1980. Journalist since 1981, he became a member of SNCCI in 1984. In 1989 he was tasked with overseeing movie selection and press office for the movie theater LUX, in Padua. In 1997 he launched the website movieconnection.it and founded the film club The Last Tycoon, of which he has since been the president. Through the years, he wrote for Espressione Giovani, Il Mattino di Padova, La Rivista del Cinematografo, Cineforum, and since 2001 he has been the director of mcmagazine.it, online magazine about cinema and larger cultural themes. Curator, proponent and teacher of numerous cinema courses, between 2003 and 2006 he was in charge of the section ‘cinema’ for VIDEOPOLIS, national festival of the ‘urban space’. After attending the film festivals of Bergamo, Venice and Cannes for years, as the correspondent for newspapers and tv channels, in 2015 he was, for the first time, a jury member for FIPRESCI at Venice Film Festival 2015.
