Kathrin Häger

Film Critic, Germany

Kathrin Häger spent her childhood and school years in Munich before studying Comparative Literature and Politics at the Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn and moving to Cologne. After an Erasmus stay in Salamanca, Spain, she completed her studies with a master’s thesis on the motif of the emotionalized android from a media comparative perspective.

After some years as a member of the Filmdienst editorial team, she still works as a regular film critic for the magazine. Her other clients include WDR, Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger (KStA), Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) and various film and art festivals.

As a curator, she programmed See the Sound, the music film program of SoundTrack Cologne, Europe’s largest congress for music and sound in film, for several years. In addition to her work as a film journalist and lecturer, she edits and curates the Films & Series section of the streaming platform Filmfriend.
