Marla Jacarilla

Visual artist, film critic, and writer. Editor of the online film magazine Contrapicado until 2020. She has collaborated in Spanish film and art magazines such as Caimán Cuadernos de Cine, Sofilm, Culturaca, Cortosfera, Miradas de Cine, Sala 1, Pliego Suelto and A*Desk, among others. Vice-president of the ACCEC (Catalan Film Critics and Writers Association) from 2017 until 2020. In 2012 she published Mecánica de la desidia, her first novel. She directed the short films The Bastard Cousin of Stephen Dedalus (2014) and Evolution 1975-2017 (2018), both screened at l’Alternativa, Barcelona Independent Film Festival, and the video essay Instruction Manual for the Understanding of False Novels (2016).
