Olivia Popp

Olivia Popp is a film writer, critic, and programmer based in Berlin and Brussels. Her writing can primarily be found in the European trade publication Cineuropa, for which she also serves as the publication coordinator for the outlet’s GoCritic! emerging film critics workshop. Her other bylines include MUBI Notebook, Screen Slate, Senses of Cinema, Zippy Frames, Modern Times Review, Talking Shorts, and Crooked Marquee. Olivia is an alumna of several film criticism academies, including Locarno Critics Academy (2025), Berlinale Talents (2024), Talking Shorts’ European Workshop for Film Criticism (2023–2024), and Cineuropa’s GoCritic! workshop (2023).
As a curator, Olivia supports International Film Festival Rotterdam’s editorial team and is a programmer for One World Slovakia Documentary Film Festival. In addition to the FIPRESCI juries at the 75th Berlinale and Duhok (2025), she has served on festival juries in Poland, Luxembourg, Canada, Slovakia, and the UK.
