Olivia Popp

Olivia Popp is a film writer, critic, and programmer concurrently completing an MA in Global Studies at Humboldt University of Berlin. Her film writing can primarily be found in the European trade publication Cineuropa, for which she also serves as the publication coordinator for the outlet’s GoCritic! emerging film critics workshop. Her other bylines include MUBI Notebook, Screen Slate, Senses of Cinema, Zippy Frames, Modern Times Review, Talking Shorts, and Crooked Marquee. As a curator, she supports International Film Festival Rotterdam’s editorial team and is a programmer for One World Slovakia Documentary Film Festival.

Olivia is an alumna of several film criticism academies, including Berlinale Talents (2024), Talking Shorts’ European Workshop for Film Criticism (2023–2024), Cineuropa’s GoCritic! workshop (2023), Far East Film Festival’s critics campus (2023), and Verzió Film Festival’s documentary film critics workshop (2023). She has also served on the International People’s Jury for the 2023 Five Flavours Asian Film Festival and the Features Jury for the inaugural edition of the London International Fantastic Film Festival (2024). Next, she will participate as a member of the FIPRESCI Jury at Berlinale 2025.
