Övgü Gökçe is a film critic and a member of the editorial and association board at Altyazı, the prominent independent film publication in Turkey. She has presented at seminars and conferences as well as contributing to numerous catalogues and publications as writer and editor since 2000. After finishing her undergraduate study on philosophy, she completed her MA degree with a thesis on narration in post-revolutionary Iranian cinema, and continued her doctoral studies in interdisciplinary arts. She has lectured on a variety of topics particularly drawing from film and aesthetics, designed and organized workshops in visual arts, and supervised and produced visual stories. Övgü Gökçe is currently working as director at Diyarbakır Arts Center implementing projects on documentary film, photography and literature, and continues to teach and write on (trans)national cinemas.
