Paul van Es

Dutch film journalist Paul van Es (born 1967) has been a film lover since his early years. When he was in college he frequented the arthouse cinemas of Groningen where he discovered filmmakers like Sergej Eisenstein, Federico Fellini, Peter Greenaway and Zhang Yimou. After working at a radio station for five years and making a radio documentary about the Indonesian ‘national hero’ Raden Adjeng Kartini, he started working for two major tv guides in the Netherlands. Since 2000 he has been editor for “TrosKompas” and a film journalist for TV Krant. He is a frequent visitor of film festivals in his home country and was a member of the jury of the Circle of Dutch Film Journalists at the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht and at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). In 2018 he had a seat in the FIPRESCI Jury at IFFR.
