Reports
Film Fra Sor, or Films from the South Festival, has existed in Oslo (Norway) for 18 years and is a kind of replica of the Festival des 3 continents in Nantes (France), which itself has existed for 30 years but in a very different context. ‘See the World From a Different Angle’ is the slogan of this year’s Films from the South Festival (not be confused with the International Film Festival of Oslo, also in the last trimester of the year), which screens films from Africa, Asia and Latin America, attempting to bring different aspects of the world to this Nordic region. This festival is largely supported by the Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture. 130 features and documentaries from 56 countries were shown in this festival, which takes place annually in October. The rather important number of films, including World Premieres, was dispatched through different sections. One of them, New Directions, was offered to the attention of the FIPRESCI jury, with 24 City (Er shi si cheng ji, Hong Kong/China/Japan) by Jia Zang ke, awarded for the International Critics Prize.
