The Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland introduces for a European public the Third World Cinemas from Africa, Asia and Latin America. It celebrated its 20th anniversary with a retrospective remembering the outstanding film events of its history. Two competitive sections, of feature films and of documentaries, presented an overview of recent tendencies in Third World filmmaking. The critics forming our jury awarded Gradually… (Be Ahestegi…) by Iranian filmaker Maziar Miri as best film.
