The international competition offered by this important event in the Egyptian capital — event which celebrated this year its 30th anniversary — is an occasion to see films from the Arab world. In fact, Cairo presents one of the biggest showcase of Arab cinematographies. However, not only the regional cinema can be seen. The festival selects an overview on new world cinema, this time with a focus on Latin America. It’s a film from Mexico that our jury prized: The Last Gaze (La ultima mirada) by Patricia Arriaga Jordan.
