World Cinema in Locarno
At the 69th Locarno International Film Festival (Switzerland, August 3-13, 2016), the Critics Jury awarded the FIPRESCI Prize to “Mister Universo” (Mister Universo) directed by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel (Austria, Italy, 2016, 90 min). Motivation: “For its simplicity and generosity. For its affection and warmth. For we felt better when we left the cinema. For the fact that the most beautiful stories have open endings.” Jury members were Dragan Rubesa, Croatia, president (“Novi list”), Fabian Tietke, Germany (“taz – Die Tageszeitung”), Marta Armengou, Spain (“La Cartellera”), Ahmed Shawky, Egypt (“Al Qahera”), Andreas Scheiner, Switzerland (“Basler Zeitung”).
