FIPRESCI New Statutes
Dear Colleagues,
The General Assembly at Budapest last September adopted a first draft of the new FIPRESCI statutes, and, at the request of our former General Secretary Klaus Eder, voted to disseminate this first draft to the sections, in order to get their possible modifications proposals, before final adoption. Our former General Secretary disseminated them according to that decision on November 21st. and that procedure has been reminded at the meeting of the Board and the sections during the Berlinale.
The Board has collected the proposed modifications, which mainly imply that the tasks are not any more regrouped in a single person, as before, and are shared by all the Board members, President and Vice-Presidents, who are subject to elections every four years and may be reelected immediately only once in a row.
The Board has sent out the final version of the statutes for adoption by electronic voting, according to the present statutes (article 16.7). Voting has been open from March 28th to April 27th at midnight, by email to FIPRESCI President, at shawforlife@hotmail.com copying Philippe J. Maarek, FIPRESCI Director of Legal Affairs, p.j.maarek@gmail.com.
The result is clear with unanimous approval by the 32 votes expressed. (see details below).
As per this vote, the new statutes are immediately enforced.
As a consequence, Alin Tasciyan, who, as Deputy General Secretary, has been standing in for the former General Secretary since January 1st, after his resignation, has been coopted by the Board as 3rd Vice-President of FIPRESCI until the next GA, as allowed by article 13.4 of the newly adopted statutes.
The new Board is thus composed of:
President: Ahmed Shawky
Vice-Presidents: Paola Casella, Elena Rubashevska, Alin Tasciyan
Consultative Members: Philippe J. Maarek (Head of Legal Affairs), Beat Glur (Treasurer)
With my best regards,
Ahmed Shawky
FIPRESCI President
