Motivation:
For its contemplative rapture and beguiling capacity to collapse past and present, for its tender attention to the minutia of human and animal life ever blooming in Portugal’s wondrous Alentejo region, and for its fusion of archeology and cinematography as a means of making history legible in a landscape, we the members of the International Federation of Film Critics are thrilled to award the FIPRESCI Prize to As Estações, or The Seasons, from director Maureen Fazendeiro.
