Ain't No Time for Women

The jury stated:
“Sarra El Abed takes audiences inside a Tunisian salon on the eve of the nation’s presidential election in Ain’t No Time for Woman (Y’a pas d’heure pour les femmes). In doing so, she creates a safe space for women of different generations to discuss their nation’s past, present, and future. El Abed’s documentary captures complex and difficult conversations with hopefulness and humour. Ingeniously harnessing the mirrors of the salon to evoke the necessity of reflecting women’s voices and experiences, the film poetically fuses the personal and the political. The refreshing dialogue between the characters offers a welcome reminder that insightful and respectful discourse endures in an era of political divineness. Ain’t No Time for Women appropriately inspired a very spirited debate among the critics.”
