FIPRESCI General Assembly 2025 – Elections information
From the FIPRESCI Board and its President Ahmed Shawky to the National Sections
Dear Colleagues,
As we are preparing for the next General Assembly, which will take place in Budapest on 17 & 18 September, according to our new statutes, there will be an election for the 4 elected positions on the Board. One president and three vice presidents will be elected for the coming four years (2025-2029). We now announce officially receiving candidates. Here are the rules for sending candidates:
- 1. Each national section can name up to 4 names, 1 for the Presidency and 3 for the Vice-Presidency, less is of course possible.
- 2. The 4 elected people cannot be of the same nationality nor represent the same section.
- 3. National sections can nominate candidates who belong to other national sections.
- 4. Since only national sections can name candidates, members who want to run for a position should seek the support of at least one national section.
- 5. Non-attending sections can name candidates, but voting is strictly for the national sections attending the General Assembly, where there is no proxy vote.
- 6. Due to limited seats, only one person can represent each section or sub-section at the GA, including those who are board members or those who will be candidates for the elected posts. Candidates can be elected even if they are not attending.
- 7. Make your candidate known by emailing us the person’s name, nationality, national section, position you nominate for, and motivation why you think he/she is suitable for the position (up to 500 words). The motivation will be shared with all national sections upon announcing the candidates.
- 8. The nominations have to arrive in written, to the following three emails: office (at info@fipresci.org), Director of legal affairs (at p.j.maarek@gmail.com), and President (at shawforlife@hotmail.com)
- 9. The deadline for sending candidates is July 31st, 2025, 24 h CEST. (Later arriving requests will not be considered.)
Important: please bear in mind that those are now very demanding positions, much more than before, since the work previously done by the General Secretary is now shared by the President and the 3 Vice-Presidents, meaning nearly amounting to a half full job and not stopping on weekends and holidays. Also do remember that according to the statutes, this is a voluntary non-paid job. That’s very important as the federation really needs each board member to be active and willing to dedicate time and effort to the FIPRESCI work.
Reminder: If you didn’t send the name of your section delegate to the General Assembly, we pushed the deadline for this to the same date, July 31st, 2025, 24 h CEST to make it simpler. (Later arriving requests will not be considered.). Email to us as above (8).
