Dear FIPRESCI Members,
We are delighted to announce the preparation of a collective book commemorating the 50th anniversary of the historic Palme d’Or triumph by the late Algerian filmmaker Lakhdar Hamina, the first Arab and African director to receive this prestigious award.
This book will consist of 50 scholarly articles (approximately 1000 words each) contributed by film critics and scholars from across the Mediterranean region and beyond, offering diverse cinematic perspectives on Hamina’s legacy, style, political impact, and influence on both regional and global cinema.
We warmly invite you, as esteemed members of FIPRESCI and respected voices in film criticism, to contribute an article reflecting your unique insight and expertise on Lakhdar Hamina’s work.
Details:
Article length: ~1000 words (or equivalent in your language)
Deadline for submission: July 30, 2025
Each accepted article will receive a symbolic honorarium of $100 USD
The book will be published and officially launched during the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival (September 24–30, 2025) in Algeria.
