Britta Schmeis

Britta Schmeis is a Hamburg-based freelance journalist, focused on film, literature and socio-political topics. After studying American literature, culture and language, she was trained as a journalist at the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), where she became editor in charge for film. She was also cultural editor für Der Spiegel. Now she works as a freelance journalist and critic for NDR Kultur, Welt am Sonntag, epd Film and others. She has served on various juries and also moderates film talks at festivals such as Filmfest Hamburg and the Reeperbahn Festival.
