Ursula Kähler

Ursula Kähler is a member of the German Film Critics Association with an academic background in Film Studies, Film Production, as well as Archive, Library, and Information Science. She received her PhD in Film Studies at Gutenberg University Mainz in 2006 under the supervision of Professor Thomas Koebner.
Her professional career includes positions at the DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum in Frankfurt, the University of Konstanz, and the University of Bern in Switzerland. She produced a short film, curated an exposition at the German Film Museum and authored two biographies covering the lives of Bavarian producer Luggi Waldleitner and Swiss director Franz Schnyder.
Currently, she works as a freelance contributor for Cicero and Monopol. Her writing has previously appeared in various publications such as the Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) and Filmdienst. Since April 2024, she has been writing the weekly column Film der Woche for Cicero Online.
