Set in the Southern province of Apulia and in a jewel of a city, Lecce, known for its unique Baroque style attributed to the local Lecce stone and its ancient Roman theatre in the town center, this festival benefits from the Patronage of the European Parliament. Its mission is to explore and rediscover European cinema as a vehicle of education and knowledge and to offer a platform and visibility for emerging filmmakers and new forms of European cinema that struggle to access mainstream markets. In collaboration with the European Film Academy, the Festival hosts the Italian stop of the EFA Short Film Tour, screening all the candidates for the European Best Short Film Award 2025. In collaboration with the European Parliament, the European Commission (Creative Europe), Europa Cinemas and EFA, the Festival also presents the films nominated for the LUX Audience Award.
