Joachim Kurz

Joachim Kurz studied film and television studies, theatre studies, philosophy and art history at Ruhr University Bochum. After graduating, he worked as a journalist, taught at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design and founded the online film magazine Kino-Zeit in 2004, one of Germany’s largest film review portals, where he is still editor-in-chief.
He has published several books on film and cultural topics and is co-editor of a book on film festivals in Germany. He has also worked as a programmer at two municipal cinemas, curates sections of the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and the Biennale Bavaria International (BBI) and founded the Klang/Bild Festival for Music and Film in Mannheim in 2024.
