Daira Abolina absolved the Moscow Institute of Cinematography department of Film Critique and History (1993). For more than 10 years she has been working on Latvian TV as journalist of different cinema programmes (Face to Face, Zootrop), lectured on world cinema history at the Culture Academy of Latvia and is the Head of Latvian FIPRESCI.
