Awarded films

The jury of the International Federation of Film Critics, FIPRESCI, has awarded, Saturday the 24th 2025, the International Critics’ Prize to the following films presented at the 78th Cannes Film Festival:

• In the Official Selection – Competition :

O AGENTE SECRETO / THE SECRET AGENT by Kleber Mendonça Filho

«We chose a film that has a novelistic, epic generosity; that allows for digression, diversion, humor and character, to evoke a time and place, and a rich, strange and deeply troubling story of corruption and oppression. A film that makes its own rules, is personal yet universal, that takes its time and acts as a memory vessel for a world : the world of military-ruled Brazil in 1977, and the world of good people in bad times.»

• To a first or second feature film in the Official Selection – Un Certain Regard :

URCHIN by Harris Dickinson

«A powerful first feature that works as a complex character Study of homelessness and addiction. We dive deeply into a cycle of self-destruction expressed with sincerity, authenticity and truthful empathy.»

• To a first feature film in the parallel sections, Directors’ Fortnight or

Critic’s Week :

PLANÈTES /DANDELION’S ODYSSEY by Momoko Seto

(presented at the Critic’s Week)

«We believe that in these strange and dangerous times that we are heading, the most important thing is to allow ourselves to feel deep, and our choices to be meaningful regarding a film that gives back to cinema its emotional essence. We chose this film for the great editing and the use of particular techniques of image that combine classic and modern animation forms. And for the strength of its message, which is none other than love, salvation, and companionship in the most difficult circumstances. The victory of life over the forces of death. »
