The Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival has always been an excellent reference for independent and auteur world cinema, featuring an exciting and thorough selection of the most personal views, daring proposals and upcoming talents. Recognized by the FIAPF as a specialized event, Gijón IFF is a competitive event for features, shorts and non-fiction works, as well as, children and youth films presented within the Enfants Terribles film literacy section. The Festival also hosts every year a programme for Industry professionals (FICXPro), including our Semilleru Lab for both projects in development (shorts and features), as well as works-in-progress. The festival is set in the lovely coastal city of Gijón, set in the North of Spain, with its old fishermen’s quarter of Cimadevilla, the Santa Catalina hill with a clifftop park and sculpture and the 18th-century Revillagigedo Palace, housing an international arts center. Our jury of three members (one from Spain) will present two prizes (Best Feature Film, worth 10,000, and special Jury Prize, distinguishing one of the films on its creative or technical aspects) to first, second and third films in the Official Section – Retueyos International Competition.
