Berlinale 2021 – The Critics Prizes

The Jury of the Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique, FIPRESCI, awarded four films at the Berlin International Filmfestival 2021. One each in the sections Competition, Encounters, Panorama and International Forum of New Cinema.

The FIPRESCI jury awarded their prize in the Competition to Ras vkhedavt, rodesac cas vukurebt? (What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?, 2021) by Alexandre Koberidze.

Das Mädchen und die Spinne (The Girl And The Spider, 2021) by Ramon and Silvan Zürcher is the winner of Encounters.

The winner film in the Panorama section is Okul Tiraşi (Brother‘s Keeper, 2021) by director Ferit Karahan.

And in the International Forum of New Cinema Esquí (Ski, 2021) by Manque La Banca was awarded by the FIPRESCI.

The members of the 2021 Berlinale FIPRESCI jury were Robert Horton (USA), president, Guilherme de Alencar Pinto (Uruguay), Pamela Jahn (UK), Nicola Falcinella (Italy), Hossein Eidizadeh (Iran), Ricardo Brunn (Germany), Peter Krausz (Australia), Jelle Brans (Belgium), Ieva Sukyté (Lithuania), Dieter Wieczorek (France), Lucy Virgen (Mexico), Ramy Hassan Aldelrazek (Egypt).

The awards ceremony will be held during the Berlinale’s summer event in June (9-20) due to the measures for containing the spread of COVID-19. Details on the exact date, time and place will follow soon.
