German Critics Prize
Filmfest Hamburg took place for the 31st time from 28 September to 7 October 2023. Since 2018, a Critics Prize has been awarded at the “Filmfest Hamburg” in cooperation with the German Film Critics Association (VdFk).
This year, the non-endowed prize went to the Romanian film Do Not Expect Too Much of the End of the World (Nu astepta prea mult de la sfârsitul lumii) by Radu Jude, which had its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival in August ’23 and was now screened at Filmfest Hamburg in the world cinema series Caleidoscope.
In addition, a Special Mention went to the French film The Goldman Case (Le Procès Goldman) by Cédric Kahn, which had its world premiere in May at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes and was now shown at Filmfest Hamburg in the Voilà! section, a series on Francophone contemporary cinema. (p.k.)
