Fabian Tietke

Fabian Tietke is a freelance critic and curator, based in Berlin. He is writing for a wide range of German print and online media on topics revolving around Italian and Chinese cinema, the politics of film production, as well as film and social movements.
In collaboration with others, he has curated a range of film series, among them Traces of Third Cinema (resulting in a book) and Counterplanning from the Kitchen – Feminist Film as Political Intervention, as well as three series on Chinese film history (2013: A Song at Midnight – Chinese Film History 1929-1964; 2016: Longing for the Rain – New Chinese Cinema 2009-2015; 2018: Splendid Isolation – Hong Kong Cinema 1949-1997), all in colloboration with Lukas Foerster, Nikolaus Perneczky, Cecilia Valenti. In 2016, together with Cecilia Valenti and Serena Barela, he organised the first retrospective outside Italy dedicated to Cecilia Mangini, a pioneer of women’s documentary filmmaking in Italy.
