Isabel Jacobs

Isabel Jacobs is a critic and philosopher based in London and Prague. Her film writing has appeared in Senses of CinemaLittle White Liese-flux NotesNotes from PolandTexte zur Kunst, and regularly the East European Film Bulletin where she is a team member. She reports from international film festivals, with a particular focus on experimental and documentary cinema from Central, Eastern, and South-East Europe. Her work is informed by philosophy, aesthetics, feminist theory, and the history of science and media, and she publishes across both academic and cultural outlets. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Queen Mary University of London and is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy at the Czech Academy of Sciences. She has also trained in audiovisual media at the Derek Jarman Lab in London and is a member of the International Cinephile Society.
