Abdi was born in Iran and lives in the UK. He had been editor-in-chief of “Seventh Art”, a theoretic magazine on film and cinema. He published ten books, including “Film Guide” on world cinema and “Gharibeh-e Bozorg” (The Great Stranger) about the work of great Iranian filmmaker Bahram Bezai.
