Virat is an award winning Indian-Australian film critic and a film festival programmer. He is the Treasurer of the Australian Film Critics Association (AFCA) and a Founding Committee Member of the Sydney Science Fiction Film Festival.His work has appeared in publications such as SBS, Senses of Cinema, ScreenHub, The Curb and Rough Cut. His longform critical commentary and video essays have appeared in home video releases by labels such as Arrow Video and Umbrella Entertainment.
As someone from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background and a lived experience of disability, he is passionate about exploring how critical discourse can help bring more marginalised voices into focus.
