Motivation:

Founded under the name of Festival of Young Filmmakers in 2004 with a focus on filmmakers under the age of 35, the festival now presents feature films, shorts, documentaries, and animated films. Since 2017, thanks to the festival’s partnership agreement with the Shanghai International Film Festival, works of Chinese filmmakers have been screened at Miskolc. A new competition program called East of Europe. The Cine New Wave special section, featuring independent directors under 35, is dedicated to short films and the Hungarian diploma movies from young filmmakers studying at local universities. Our jury of three (one from Hungary) will award a feature length film in the Main international competition.
