José Solís

Jose Solís is a Honduran cultural critic and educator based in Madrid, Spain. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, American Theatre, Salon, Backstage, TDF Stages, Common Sense Media, The Toronto Star and the National Catholic Reporter, among others. He is an approved critic on Rotten Tomatoes and a member of FIPRESCI (the first Honduran to join), LEJA, GALECA, where he sits on the advisory board, the Online Film Critics Society and the Golden Globes voting body.

In 2020 he was selected as the Floria Lasky Visiting Artist at Hunter College. He is the founder and director of the BIPOC Critics Lab, a program that has trained more than seventy critics from fourteen countries in partnership with the Kennedy Center, the Stratford Festival, the Public Theater and The Old Globe, and the subject of his doctoral research at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. In 2021 the Kennedy Center named him one of its “Next 50.” He co-created Token Theatre Friends and produces the Page Turn podcast for Neworld Theatre.
