The countdown for this year’s European Film Awards has started. FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics, has proposed ten films to the European Film Academy which should be considered as candidates in the Best Film category. Here is the list:

“Sieranevada” by Cristi Puiu, Romania
“L’Avenir” (Things to Come) by Mia Hansen-Love, France
“I, Daniel Blake” by Ken Loach, UK
“Kollektivet” (The Commune ) by Thomas Vinterberg, Denmark
“Francofonia” by Alexander Sokurov, Russia
“Elle” by Paul Verhoeven, France
“Toni Erdmann” by Maren Ade, Germany
“Quand on a 17 ans” (Being 17) by André Téchiné, France
“Anayurdu” (Motherland) by Senem Tüzen, Turkey
The Award Ceremony will take place on December 10, 2016, in the Polish city of Wroclaw.
