Julio Bressane, the Brazilian director, headed the main jury which saw an opening  night graced by a recital by one of India’s foremost classical musicians. Dariush Mehrjui, the Iranian director, was the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. (Derek Malcolm)
