International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA)

At IDFA – International Documentary Film Festival we presented a cross-section first feature award in one of the festival’s main sections. The FIPRESCI Prize went to 1489 by Shoghakat Vardanyan (Armenia, 2023), which “reveals the voice of a generation that is at ease with the camera even in its most intimate and vulnerable moments. It organically goes from a first-person perspective to a silent observation of how events resonate within the filmmaker’s family. We admire the autonomous, urgent effort in capturing a strong experience in Shoghakat Vardanyan’s debut 1489“, wrote the jury.
