Awarded films

Statement:

It’s about a horrible crime, it’s about feelings of guilt, emotional kitsch and social responsibility. As effortlessly as it is tricky, our award-winner switches between documentary in film, drama, thriller and satire in order to raise its exciting core questions on the basis of a ‘who dunnit’ full of twists and turns: who is allowed to make films about whom, who defines who is a victim and who a perpetrator. Film reels, intended to reconstruct the right-wing extremist attack in Solingen in 1993, disappear from the set. The various angles of the search confront us with the indifference to human life and cultural diversity. The film convinced us with its courage to explore the ethical boundaries of filmmaking and to initiate a discussion about the sovereignty of interpretation on the subject of integration and identity.
