Dieter Wieczorek

Born in Germany, Dieter Wieczorek has since 1985 been engaged in cultural, art and film criticism in various European journals and newspapers. Simultaneously in the 90s he realized installation works and performances and founded the “Commission of Situation Creation”, an international network for creation of strange situations in public spaces. In 2003 he founded the festival of audio-visual and cinematographic creation “Festival International Signes de Nuit” (Signs of the Night) in Paris, where he actually is based. The festival realizes competition programs for short, experimental, and documentary films from around the world, beside focus programs and retrospectives. The Festival is actually performed beside Paris also in Berlin, Lisboa, Bangkok, Tucuman (Argentina) and Urbino (Italy). In 2018 he founded the Balkan country focused “International Festival Bosnia-Herzegovina Looks Around” in Bottrop, Germany. He is founder and since 2010 chief editor of the International independent Journal of film and festival review Interference. He regularly contributes critiques for the documentary journal Modern Times Review.
