Sonora Broka

For the past six years, Sonora Broka has been an editor and host of the weekly program on cinema “Piejūras klimats” (Seaside Climate) at Latvijas Radio 3 “Klasika”, which reports on the most significant cinematic events in the world to the listeners in Latvia. The show is available as a podcast as well. Broka is a member of FIPRESCI since 2017 and the European Film Academy (EFA) since 2019. She is a frequent contributor for the leading cinematic news portal in Latvia Kinoraksti.lv and occasionally writes for the Latvian monthly magazines “Klubs” and “I’mperfect”. Sonora Broka is also recognized for her curatorial work and execution of such film festivals as the Arsenals Film Festival and the Riga International Film Festival. She has participated in the EU “LUX Prize” selection committee, served on various international film festival juries, both for features and documentaries and as an expert of the “Finale Plzen” festival industry program “Czech Film Springboard”. Broka has moderated various discussions on cinema, with “Cinema Eisenstein” podcasts “Invent cinema from anew” and, most recently, “21st century cinema stories.”
