Jury Motivation
The FIPRESCI Jury Award goes to a film that traces how love, bodies, and gender become politicized. As war rages, a young queer Ukrainian couple faces rigid gender norms that press in on their love. Against the brutality of war, the film holds a tender, intimate space, and that is its quiet plea for peace. The FIPRESCI Jury Award goes to I Rarely Wake Up Dreaming, directed by Isabelle Stever.
Spain’s second oldest European festivals, now on its 71th edition, and is now headed by Javier H Estrada and Mariona Viader, after the sad and sudden passing of José Luis Cienfuegos. The festival offers a rich selection of Spanish and Portuguese-language films and will continue to be a platform for discovering new voices on the Spanish film scene. Our jury of three members (one Spanish) will concentrate on the official selection, which presents a panorama of recent international cinema.
