Paulo Portugal is a Portuguese film critic, freelance journalist and PhD researcher (NOVA FCSH). He holds an MA in Film Studies, and his current doctoral research focuses on contemporary cinephilia, digital preservation and the role of archival projects in the rediscovery of film heritage, with particular attention to the Portuguese FILMar Project. A FIPRESCI member for more than two decades, he has served on juries at major international film festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlin, San Sebastián, Tromsø, Toulouse or Yerevan. He writes regularly on world cinema, film heritage and contemporary cinephilia, bringing together film criticism, festival experience and academic research.
